She was a nameless victim until a man pulled her out of the darkness and gave her new life. A new purpose, because anything is better than being no one. When she is about to eliminate her next mark something stops her. The moment Julianna makes eye contact with Reid Castleton, she has a flashback of her forgotten past. How does she know the man? And why can’t she follow through with her assignment?

Expert assassin, Reid Castleton, has been told to kill the only woman he ever loved if he wants to live. When he finds his fiancée, he can’t go through with the hit, even if it means losing his own life. Either she can’t remember who she is or is damn good at acting.

Neither one knows who to trust. Both make a truce until they can find out why the leader of ETE 7 wants them both dead. What they uncover is a long line of lies and deception that started the moment Julianna was conceived. Will love conquer all or will fear make them do the unthinkable?

I've had an exciting release week. If you missed an interview, scroll down to the previous post. I have links for all my interviews. My favorite--Alec Pearce sit down with Sharon Buchbinder. What a sexy-as-heck, intense man. [Yup, I even blush].

Fans of TV’s Blue Bloods will love this dynamic new suspense series.

Maryland PD forensic scientist Emersyn D’Azzo has an explosive past with her father’s younger, sexy partner, Detective Alec Pearce. Then an ill-timed kiss destroys the thin line of trust between her and her dad, just before tragedy strikes and someone guns down her father.

The fatal bullet turns out to be tied to the ongoing spree of random sniper kills across the state, but Emersyn knows this wasn’t a random act of violence and is determined to find the killer.

To do so, she’ll need to rely on help from Alec, whom she doesn’t quite trust but just can’t resist. When they discover a connection to a decades-old disappearance of a college student, their investigation takes a deadly twist. Can they learn to trust each other with their hearts to save their lives?

A TEASER FOR THE EYEWITNESS---ONLY ONE WEEK TO GO

Happy Monday, Everyone!!

It's only one week before The Eyewitness hits the virtual stands everywhere. So I just had to give you another little teaser. And check back during the week because there may be a giveaway or two based on this excerpt.

For all those who haven't seen the blurb, here it is again.

Fans of TV’s Blue Bloods will love this dynamic new suspense series.

Can they learn to trust each other with their hearts to save their lives?

Another excerpt from The Eyewitness. Enjoy!

“What do I do?” Emersyn asked.
“You and Alec go through every inch of the shop. There are some old tools I don’t believe anyone will miss, as well as Grandmother Lucy’s old dinette set. It shouldn’t take more than an hour or two to get through everything.”
No one said a word as they left the kitchen. Taking the key that hung on a hook right inside the door, Emersyn headed toward her father’s hideout. It was the place he’d gone to get away from the noise of family life. She hadn’t set foot in the small shed in over a year.
The key fit easily in the lock. Stepping inside, the first thing that hit her was the order. Every tool had a place. Maybe her father had found the world so chaotic he sought balance where he could. But she would never get a chance to ask him. Just when she’d reached the age she could appreciate the man behind the father figure, he’d been ripped from her life. If there was one denominator that fueled her need for revenge, that was it.
Alec took Nathan’s bug-tracking gadget and cleared the small space. “No listening devices. Not a lot of places to hide a file, either.”
He moved close behind her, his heat seeping through her. Now the damn man decided he wouldn’t be ignored. Shit. There was no escaping him, and he had to know the effect he had on her. She placed the workbench between them.
“One year, Dad hid all my birthday presents in one room. After an hour of searching without finding even one gift, I gave up. His only clue was to search places that weren’t as they seem.”
“Like false fronts,” Alec said, tapping his hand against the four cabinet doors. “Which these are not. Damn, I wanted easy.” He moved to the corner and examined the dinette table. “And this is an ugly-as-sin table and chairs.”
“Dad was going to refurbish it for the patio.” Emersyn let out a short laugh and began removing the tools from the pegboard one at a time, examining each handle. When that didn’t yield any hidden crevices, she opened each jar of nails and screws. It was crazy, but she even beamed her Maglite between the pegboard and the unfinished wall of the shed. As a last resort, she knelt and tapped the floorboards. Alec quickly followed suit, checking each plank on his side of the room.
For the next fifteen minutes, she lost herself in the game of hide-and-seek. When her body collided with Alec’s in the middle of the room, she bit down on her shriek. “That was a freaking waste of time,” she said as she sat cross-legged.
“Joe sure the hell isn’t making this easy.”
“Maybe there is no secret case file or mystery man. What if I just—”
“You didn’t imagine anything.” Alec scooted to sit beside her. “Don’t mess with your own head.”
Emersyn rested her elbows on her knees, lowering her forehead into her hands. “I know. I’m just frustrated and scared.” Then a thought struck her hard, taking her breath away. “Simba growled.” She let out a heavy breath. “I forgot that until this instant. Dad had to wrap the leash around his fist to hold him.”
“There you go. Someone was there, and he’s part of all this. We find him, we get our answers.”
“And our revenge.”
Alec lifted her chin with his thumb. “No, Em. Don’t go there. Those thoughts will send you down a dark hole from which you will never recover.”
“My dad—”
“You told Gates you went into forensics to help victims find closure. We’ll put these bastards away and heal.”
She lowered her back against the floor, hiding her face behind her hands. What was happening to her? The hatred she had in her heart for her dad’s murderer was changing something fundamental in her.
“You’re a better person than me, Pearce.”
He laid down next to her. “That’s stupid talk, D’Azzo.”
“I’ve never felt this kind of revulsion for another human being before. I want to physically hurt them.”
He pulled her hands from her face. “Wanting isn’t doing.”
She rolled toward him, her breast brushing against his arm. The jolt from such a simple touch shocked her. The emotion that began pulsing through her veins had nothing to do with revenge. Her entire focus morphed instantly into the one thing that was off-limits. She wanted Alec and craved the feel of his lips on hers.
His glare locked on her mouth. “Cut it out, Em.”

    WELCOME J.L.LORA, AUTHOR OF BOSS

    Happy Monday, Everyone!

I would like introduce a wonderful new author, my fellow Crimson Romance sister, J.L. Lora.

This is Jay's first visit to my blog and I'm so happy to have her. Boss, Janny's debut novel releases today!!! Isn't her cover just gorgeous, and so sexy.

Determined to avoid the violence that claimed her family and friends, Carissa Elliott flees her hometown with a dangerous plan. She has proof that mafia boss Calum DeMateo killed her father—now she just has to catch him. To do so, she’ll have to transform herself from small-town ingénue to New York mafia queen.
When her path crosses with Alec McLean, the sexy stranger with whom she once shared a steamy nightclub kiss, things take an unexpected turn. Alec heads his family’s criminal organization, the kind of man Carissa should want nothing to do with. But he also has a plan to take down Calum, and the flames that flicker between them are irresistible.
Will their vengeful quests jeopardize their chance at lasting love?

To start off this interview, tell us a little about yourself so my readers to get to know the person behind the writer.

Thank you so much for having me! I was born in the Dominican Republic and grew up in New York. I’ve always loved writing and told anyone who would listen that someday I would do this for a living. I explore some dark themes in my writing and my villains are the worse but my life doesn’t reflect any of that. Thankfully. I have a beautiful, supportive family, awesome group of friends, a cat and some people would call me sweet. So yeah, figures I would write criminals and the shaded corners of life. Right? I crack myself up.
It makes me laugh. What I have in common with the characters I write is their fierce loyalty and their ties to each other, and the girls love of fashion.

What's not to love about fashion. And just for the record, I'm considered 'sweet' as well and write horrible villains.  Tell us a little bit about how you came to write Boss

You know, I’ve always had this love for movies and books about organized crime. I think it happened since I watched the Godfather Saga with my dad and every time we come across it, we watch it. It’s been like a million times. I also heard about the story of Teresa Mendoza, the Queen of the South, and I got to thinking about this young woman. The scene that came to me happens in the second half of the book and then it unfolded into this story. I met Carissa and Alec at a point where things were super-duper complicated for both of them and with every chapter I wrote, I got to know them better and better. And eventually the Trinity revealed itself to me.

Everyone, this is Janny's hero and heroine, Alec and Carissa.

    EXCERPT FROM THE EYEWITNESS. ENJOY!

    Hello, All!

I hope everyone is having a great week. This is count down time for me. The Eyewitness releases into the world in only 20 days!!
Lately, I spend my days working on blog interview questions, creating a rough outline of the next book in the series and trying not to panic.

That's right...this is also panic mode time for most authors--and I'm talking about sleepless nights kind of worry. How will the world feel about Emersyn and Alec's story? Will they come to love these two amazing characters as I did? Questions and more questions...

    This is me most nights...

Well, that kind of silly thinking has to stop. I'm going to give you all a little taste of Emersyn and Alec, at least in the beginning of the book. If you have a free moment, I would love to know what you think so far. If you can't get CONTACT ME [the pencil] below to work, just shoot me an email email HERE

Here is the blurb and the fantastic new cover just in case you missed my last post.

Fans of TV’s Blue Bloods will love this dynamic new suspense series.

    Excerpt for The Eyewitness-Enjoy!

Ted edged in closer. “You can take a few moments for one dance.” He eyed Tessa. “You don’t mind if I borrow your sister, do you?”
    “But I do.”
The deep, masculine voice sent an arousing jolt right into Emersyn’s core. And damn it to hell, her mouth went dry, making it impossible to swallow. She fingered her straw then took a deep drink. This time she welcomed the burning chill against her lungs. Detective Alec Pearce had a knack for showing up at her worst moments. Why the hell was he here?
Ted moved away from her as if he’d been burned. “Alec, good to see you.”
“You do know you’re hitting on my partner’s daughter, right, Ted?”
“Just asking her for a dance.”
Emersyn glanced between the two; she actually preferred Ted’s company to the man who seemed to go out of his way to make her crazy.
Alec reached for her hand and set it in his palm. “Actually, she promised this dance to me. They’re playing our song.”
The muscles in her body tensed as her fingernails dug into his skin. “I don’t—”
“Music is on, Em. Shall we?” His other hand went around her waist, and he gave her a swift yank.
“Jerkball, let go,” she hissed in his ear.
His grip tightened. “It’s just one dance. Play nice.”
Alec escorted Emersyn to the small dance floor near the bandstand. Every instinct in her wanted to slap his arrogant expression right into next week, but that would make a scene. It was what half the bar expected the instant he got within striking distance. They were all waiting for her to let loose. But this was a new day, a new diploma, new job, new Emersyn. Emotions in check.
“My name is Emersyn. I would think you would remember something so simple.”
Alec’s face lit with a grin as his arms brought her close and their bodies began to move to the music. She shot a glare at Tessa, pleading for her to do something. Instead, her sister, the traitor, took another sip of Emersyn’s drink, lifted it in a toast, and rotated in her seat.
A chuckle came from deep in Alec’s throat. “Tessa likes me. You can thank me now.”
“I can also knee you where the sun doesn’t shine.”
He lifted her chin with his thumb. “Now that wasn’t nice. I sacrificed a night with that blonde”—he nodded to a beautiful woman sitting at the end of the bar—“just to keep Lecher Ted from hitting on you … again.”
“What makes you think I needed rescuing?”
“Oh please, Tessa, make the creep go away. I’m ever so sweet and don’t want to hurt the poor jerk’s feelings.”
She yanked out of Alec’s hold, but he was ready and moved her back into his arms without missing a beat.
    “Relax. I’m teasing.”
    “You are such an ass.”
His lips brushed over her ear. “Enjoy our moment, Em.”
Impossible. They had more layers of misunderstanding between them than her mother’s chocolate cake, heated words that couldn’t be unheard and arguments with no closure.
After her father had mentioned at dinner that Alec was joining them for dessert, she’d jumped at Tessa’s offer to buy her a drink at the tavern. It was the perfect place to hide out. A lone wolf like Alec wouldn’t be caught dead in the crowded, noisy bar. But here he was. She’d run but not far enough.
“I’m sorry I missed your graduation ceremony, but I have a little something for you,” he whispered.
“You didn’t need to do that.”
    “I’m proud of you.”
The words sounded so genuine. “Dad seems resigned to the idea of me at least working alongside cops, if not as a cop.”
“Joe doesn’t want you anywhere near the job. But you found a way around that. Instead of crawling in the gutter looking for the worst mankind has to offer, you’re picking through what they left behind.”
She halted in the middle of the dance floor. “You think that’s why I became a forensic scientist?”
“I didn’t mean it like that.”
    “Then what did you mean?”
The music stopped, and they stood still, glaring at each other. Our thing. “I can’t do this tonight,” she said, dropping her hand to her sides. “Thanks.”
    “For?”
“Saving me from another go-around with Ted.”
“Do you want me to talk to him?”
“I can take care of myself.”
For once, there was no comeback. Instead, he eased her against him and tucked her hand over his heart. “Dance with me, Emersyn.”
That sexy, got-to-have-you-now voice was back, and her other four senses came out to play. Being close to Alec Pearce, taking in his spicy, clean soap scent, feeling the strength of his arms around her wasn’t an awful feeling. Confusing? Hell yes, but her body sure enjoyed it. It’s just a dance, right?
She lowered one hand to his hip and brought the other around his neck, her cheek resting against his. Alec tightened his grip around her waist as he spun them around the dance floor. The move put their bodies in sync, and there was no mistaking the effect she had on him. Her lips brushed against his skin, sending shock waves through her.
He sucked in a breath and tilted his head. Their gazes held for what  seemed like an eternity. He was so damn gorgeous, his deep brown eyes with a hint of gold, lush lashes, and a dusting of five-o’clock shadow on his square jaw that she ached to feel rubbed against all her soft places. As if he read her mind, his mouth caressed her bottom lip. He waited, expecting her to pull back. Need took over, and she lost her mind.

That's it for today. Next week, I have invited a new author, J.L. Lora, for an interview and peek at her debut novel, Boss. Until then, I hope you can find a few moments to relax and read a great book.

    Hugs to all,
